Character Information
Character Name: Ichigo Kurosaki
Canon: Bleach
Canon Point: Chapter 684, directly after he kills Yhwach.
History: Here!
Personality: Ichigo is very blunt, aggressive, speaks his mind, acts on impulse and instinct, has a habit of swearing, and always keeps his eyebrows furrowed, giving someone a foreboding, harsh first impression of him. He also claims to care little of what people say or think about him, often getting into fights when he was at school. But, Ichigo is actually very kind hearted and sensitive, being unable to pass by anyone in need of help and trying to calm down people when they're upset. He cares for and is extremely loyal to his friends, automatically placing them and their needs before his own and wants to protect them and the people around him, and if he’s unable to do that because he’s too weak, he feels a terrible sense of guilt and failure. Part of this stems from the name he was given: although ‘Ichigo” Is commonly written as ‘strawberry’ in Japanese and thus only used as a girl’s name, his name is written to mean ‘First Guardian.’ Ichigo’s father, Isshin, once told him that his name meant ‘he who protects,’ and he took it to heart. The other part is from the death of his mother, Masaki. When Ichigo was nine, he ran after a girl near the edge of an overflowing river, thinking she was going to jump in. The girl was actually a part of a hollow that was trying to lure him in so it could eat him. Instead, Masaki shielded Ichigo with her body, dying in his place. From that, Ichigo felt like he had torn the heart of his family’s universe out, as he thought Masaki’s death was his fault. Even after he found out that a hollow had killed her, he still feels guilty if he can’t protect someone close to him. Despite this, he is a very determined person, and very stubborn as well.

Ichigo is also quite spastic and awkward at times and can be very self conscious (like any normal teenager, but it's harder when you have spiritual powers), and has a habit of shouting too much when something confuses him or when he’s angry. He’s very spastic and overreacts when awkward sexual situations are brought up; I. E. getting boobs shoved in his face. He's pretty prudish for a male teenager. (Still prone to peeking every now and then, though, like with matsumoto.)

Speaking of sensitivity, there have been instances in canon where Ichigo sympathized with the enemy he was facing- Aizen and Ginjou are the most recent examples, as he recognized Aizen's loneliness and understood that he and Ginjou shared very similar circumstances (with different results). Despite this, Ichigo has never hesitated in taking them down, no matter how much he empathized and understood. He may be sensitive, but he'll still adhere to what he thinks what he should do. He also cannot stand anyone besmirching/attacking their allies-even if it's the enemy, getting angry and disgusted with anyone who does that. For someone as loyal to his allies and friends, doing that is the ultimate sign of disrespect and one of the worst things you can do.

Despite the fact that he looks like a street punk, Ichigo is actually very intelligent. He ranked 18th (or 23rd, for some reason it switches between chapters) in his class, and he figures out things in battle pretty quickly, even to the point where he got called a creepy kid for it. It's just that it often doesn't fit with the tough, cool image he tries to cultivate, so someone could miss it if they weren't looking.

Ichigo's relationships with his friends and family are varied and sometimes unusual-take his relationship with his father, Isshin. While it's obvious both of them care for each other, they're often rather antagonistic towards the other (and really, do you know a father who repeatedly attacks his son as a form of fatherly love?) and Ichigo can be rather rude towards him. His friendship (and rivalry) with the quincy Ishida Uryuu is also another unique bond he has, and that's to say nothing of the complex relationship he shares with Kuchiki Rukia-sometimes at each other's throats with their bickering and arguments, but both understand each other at a deep level. He also cares for Inoue Orihime, and believes strongly in her, seeing as he vehemently denied that she could have betrayed them in canon. Chad is one of his best friends and one he would trust fighting back to back with him-even though he didn't allow for a while out of worry, and he and Renji, while having the occasional verbal fight, are still friends who share the same views.

Regardless, Ichigo is still fiercely protective of them-even to the point of ignoring or just not seeing that they can defend themselves-at times, his instinct to protect his friends almost borders on overprotectiveness. And because of that worry for his friends, he will often forget about himself and end up placing himself in danger without thinking, or simply lose all reason if they are threatened. And he cannot take it if the people he cares for are manipulated and/or turned against him - He quickly became utterly frightened and paranoid, and at his lowest point even broke down and cried in despair. In this regard, his desire to protect is both his biggest strength and his biggest weakness.

Items on your character at canon point: His Shihakusho (and weird...armor thingies?) and his Zanpakuto.

Abilities: Basic abilities:

He's spiritually sensitive, which means he can see and hear ghosts and other spiritual phenomena. In addition to that, he can sense reiatsu, or spiritual pressure, that other people and spiritual beings give off, if they even have any. He's also very strong, has extremely quick reflexes, and knows Karate.

Shinigami abilities (that aren't related to Zangetsu):

He can use shunpo, or flash step, which is a technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can see in order to quickly get from one area to the next. Ichigo is very proficient with it, seeing as the first time we see him actually use it he knocks out three fukutaichous and then grabbed his sword before any of them hit the ground.

Zanpakuto abilities:

Shikai- Zangetsu is in a constant Shikai release state, which is a rather large, knife-like blade, along with a smaller, chef-knife sized one. Ichigo mainly uses it in a melee fashion, but it has one special attack: Getsuga Jujisho. Getsuga Jujisho works by gathering Ichigo's reiatsu at the edge of the blades, and then compresses and releases it when he slashes with both of them, forming a cross-shaped blast that flies forward. It's extremely powerful, capable of nullifying weaker attacks and can easily rip through flesh - when he used it against someone, it destroyed the lightning technique they were using and tore off their arm. It's based off of his first technique, Getsuga Tenshou, which was used back when he had only one sword and works mostly the same, except it's shaped like a crescent instead of a cross. Getsuga Tenshou is powerful-the very first time ichigo ever uses it, it creates a huge gash in the earth and splits a large rock in half and kills Urahara's hat.

Bankai- In this state, Zangetsu changes to something of a Khaiber knife, a black blade like his normal zanpakuto with a white outside. Ichigo's clothes stay the same, but his appearance changes - gaining his hollow's markings, horn, and eye on one side. Since his bankai in this state didn't really get much play, i'm assuming it's the same as his old bankai - that is to say, it's power is compressed, thus allowing him to fight with twice the strength at super-high speed. His speed is so great in this form that he's capable of leaving after-images of himself when he uses shunpo, and not only does his physical strength increase, but so does his Getsua Tenshou, who's flight path can be controlled. It's also possible for him to keep a tenshou in his blade, and thus increase the power of his sword swings even more.

Hollow abilities:

Ichigo, because he was able to defeat his inner hollow, has the ability to use his hollow mask in battle. The mask covers his entire face, resembles a skull (albeit a rather scary looking one), and is primarily white except for two parallel red markings that start from the top of the mask and travel downwards to jaw. In order to use it, Ichigo has to make a ripping motion over his face with his hand.

The mask increases his strength, speed, and spiritual power while it's being used, and also increases Getsuga Tenshou's attack power to the point of even being compared to a Cero Obscuras, one of the strongest Ceros (a large, beam like attack) a Hollow can use.

However, at the canon point I'm taking him at, he's fully accepted his hollow and realized it's his true power, leading to the weird fusion he gets when he transforms. I'm fairly certain the mask isn't in play anymore, but I listed it just in case.

There's also one other 'ability' the hollow has, although it's only ever happened once: When Ichigo was hit with a Cero Obscuras at close range, blowing a hole through his chest, he was revived by the scream of one of his friends and transformed into This. In that form, he can fire Ceros off, and is extremely strong and fast (to the point where he's able to get behind Ulquiorra and TEAR OFF HIS ARM WITH HIS BARE HANDS before Ulquiorra could react). However, he's pretty much also like an animal in that form, running on pure instinct. So far, it looks like the form can't be triggered without him having a hole in his chest and then having someone he cares about yell out for him.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths

Ichigo's actually pretty intelligent-he ranked 18th (or 23rd, for some reason it switches between chapters) in his class, and he figures out things in battle pretty quickly, even to the point where he got called a creepy kid for it.

He's pretty good at keeping his head in dangerous or panic situations, too. ...normally. Sometimes his emotions get the better of him.

Ichigo's also extremely determined and driven, and his drive to protect the people close to him is also a strength of his.

He's also pretty loyal and protective of his friends, and he can sympathize with people well (just, you know. not where anyone can really see him or whatnot. Tough guy image to maintain and all).

He can become an impromptu leader when he has to, but he doesn't actively seek it out-it's an extension of him wanting to help people who need it.

Weaknesses

As mentioned before, Ichigo has a tendency not to think if someone he cares about is being threatened and just charge in without any thought for himself. Actually, he seems to place everyone else above himself, so he normally doesn't really think about his own safety. at all. And if he isn't able to protect anyone close to him, he will push a whole lotta guilt onto himself. He also has a tendency to go with his emotions, which...isn't always the best idea. Ichigo's 'tough guy' exterior and image can also make people stay away from him.

He also has a problem believing in that his friends can look after themselves-not out of scorn, mind you, but simply out of his concern for them. He tells chad to run during a fight (which hurts chad, since they fought together all this time), and worries about Rukia and the rest of his nakama and how they'll do when they have to split up in Hueco Mundo (to the point where Renji steps in and tells him it's extremely insulting for him to worry like that about a warrior like Rukia). He can also overlook what people do for him-again, never on purpose, but often because of aforementioned concern.

He's also pretty self-conscious; he purposely hides his shinigami and spiritual abilities from normal people, and tried to hide the fact that he has a hollow from the people that do know about his powers (And it didn't go quite well. At all). Although now he doesn't HAVE said powers, but he'll still probably find something to be self-conscious about.

And speaking about hiding, one of the things that are a big weakness is that he just doesn't open up to people-it's part out of worry for them, and part him thinking that it's his OWN problem, so he'll be the one to take care of it. And this can lead to him trying to take everything on himself, which if he fails...welp. Guilt city.

He can also be rash and short sighted - this is the kid who wanted to hang around and fight Ganjou even though he knew Rukia was going to be executed, and it took Yoruichi reminding his dumb ass that they weren't there to fight randos but save the person who saved him.
